This style of dark old ale originates from Theakston’s brewery in North Yorkshire, England. It has also affectionately been referred to as ‘Lunatic Broth’ due to its strength. Toffee & roast malt in the mouth; hints of ‘rum’ with a deep bitter sweet finish and a delicate hop underpinning. Peculiar has a certain warmth due to its higher alcohol content.

This traditional Scottish classic is similar to an English bitter with the accent more on malt than on hops. This example displays a slight “smokiness” due to the addition of a small amount of peated malt. A Scottish classic with English hops.

Porter originated in London, England, as a blend of stout & pale ale. It flourished for over two centuries before fading away to near oblivion. Revived by micros and homebrewers, this beer is dark (almost black) but not as roasty as a stout. Chocolate notes, and relatively low bitterness, make this flavourful session beer as popular today, as it was among the Hotel Porters of London's past.

The #1 pads are Coarse Pads. (5 - 7 microns) They remove large particulate in a heavy wine, typically those heavy reds. The #2 Pads are Polishing Pads (1.5 - 2.5 microns) and they remove medium to small particulate and adds brilliance to your wine. The #3 pads are Sterile Pads (1 - .5 microns) very tight pads that remove very small particulate in your wine. We strongly recommend that you filter with the #2 pad first before filtering with the # 3 pads.
